Annuals for Indoors

There are some Annual Plants that can be grown indoors for the winter months, some will be dormant and some keeps on blooming. Annuals that are brought indoors usually needs their soil to be slightly to more on the drier side.

  • Geraniums-With enough bright light (13 hours artificial) otherwise it will be dormant and when summer comes you can place them back outside.
  • Diamond Frost Euphorbia- Blooms indoors, do not water to much during time period indoors.
  • Coleus- Grows well indoors, Bright light and not overwatering. Do not let Coleus bloom if you see blooms emerge pinch them off otherwise plant will die after blooming.
  • Pansy - Bright Light, coolish temperatures
  • Lantanas can be maintained indoors during winter -they will be dormant place them back outside in the summer.
  • Sedge Grass-Bright Light, don’t overwater
  • Polka Dot Plant-Bright Light, don’t overwater
  • Fitonnias-Nerve Plant Bright Light, Soil Evenly Moist
  • Poor man’s orchid-Schizanthus semi moist soil and bright light
  • Euphorbia Money wort-bright light and soil slightly dry between watering.
  • Bush Violets- Bright light,  don’t overwater
  • Fiber Optic Grass-Likes their soil to be wet, they do prefer a little water in their saucer, Bright light.

    I kept an upright fuschia all winter and it always had at least three blooms. It was really nice to have by my kitchen sink where I could enjoy the color all winter. I’m going to try some of the others on your list. Love everything you write on this site. Thank you.
